It is said that the Dwarves were born from the very stone of Aies Mara. This is not far from the truth. As the Gods dreamed and the Primordials forged, the creation itself came to life. And so it was that countless primal spirits were born. One among these, being born from the stones deep beneath mountains, were the Dwarves.
Strong as rock and sturdy as stone, the Dwarves are the proud and stubborn builders of Aies Mara. Though all their kingdoms exist deep beneath the earth, most if not all the great cities of the surface world were crafted by the Dwarven people. For example, the great city of Arkhosia, though ruled by the Dragonborn was every stone built by Dwarven hands. For no race can match the natural affinity to stonework the Dwarves claim as birthright. Stone work, though, is by no means the only craft Dwarves have a natural talent at. With access to some of the finest metals and gems in all Aies Mara from deep within their mines, and having deft hands capable of manipulating the materials of the earth with ease, trinkets, armor and weapons Dwarf forged
fetch a high price in any of the surface lands.
Not all Dwarves choose a life of forging and creating beneath the earth though. Dwarves are also known to be notorious fighters and warriors, shrewd merchants and business men, and devout healers and priests. And though, there was a time when the Dwarves isolated themselves in their seven kingdoms beneath the mountains and shunned the rest of the world, that time is past. Now many Dwarves choose to live above the surface along side all the other races of Aies Mara.
Your average dwarf stands between 4’3’’ and 4’7’’ and, usually being well muscled, weighs anywhere between 180 And 220lbs. Male dwarves are quite particular about their beards and keep them full grown and well groomed.
